GERMANTOWN, MD — A man armed with a butcher knife who has a "history of dangerous behavior," according to Montgomery County Police, is in custody following a standoff.
Marques Buford, 49, of Germantown, is being held without bond following the police impasse outside an apartment complex on Sunday.
Officers went to an apartment complex in the 12300 block of Silvergate Way about 7:19 a.m. for a report of a domestic incident. A woman who called emergency services said her husband would not let her leave their apartment.

Buford reportedly threatened police officers if they tried to enter the apartment.
Officers met Buford, who was armed with a large knife, outside the apartment. A news release said police tried to "use less-lethal force, but it had no effect because Buford was wearing layers of clothing and a paintball mask."

Police, including a trained negotiator, worked to de-escalate the situation. Buford was taken into custody as he attempted to run away from the scene, authorities said. No injuries were reported to Buford or any officers.
Buford was evaluated at a local hospital and taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with false imprisonment. He is being held without bond.
