Three Injured, Highway Closed After I-695 Collision

Part of the highway was closed for an hour Saturday morning.

Three people were taken to University of Maryland Shock Trauma Saturday morning and part of Interstate 695 was shut down after a two-car collision near the Curtis Creek Drawbridge, according to authorities.

The collision occurred at about 5:30 a.m. on the northbound side of I-695, according to Maryland Transportation Authority Police Sgt. Kirk Perez.  Three people were taken to shock trauma with serious injuries though, Perez said.

“They are not believed at this time to be life-threatening,” he said.

The northbound side of the road was closed from about 5:30 a.m. to 6:31 a.m. according to Perez because there was “a lot of debris involved.”   

As of Saturday afternoon, MTA Police were investigating the cause of the collision.
