Bank of Glen Burnie President and CEO Michael Livingston has been named the Maryland Economic Development Association (MEDA) Volunteer of the Year for 2011.
The Severn resident will receive the award at MEDA's 50th anniversary conference being held this June in Cambridge, MD.
Livingston "has played a vital role in attracting, promoting, and encouraging trade and commerce in Anne Arundel County," Robert Hannon, Anne Arundel County Economic Development Corporation President and CEO, said in a press release.

“Mr. Livingston plays a key role in local economic development. He serves as Chairman of the Glen Burnie Town Center Advisory Committee, overseeing implementation of the Glen Burnie Urban Renewal Plan. In 2006, he guided the reorganization of the Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC), our business accelerator for emerging tech companies. CIC has scouted and showcased 168 emerging companies, and Mr. Livingston helps us nurture a strong tech presence in the county,” Hannon said in the release.
The MEDA Awards recongize the efforts of members to attract and support businesses, redevelop business districts, market communities and promote workforce development, tourism and agriculture, according to a press release from MEDA.

“Michael Livingston has been a selfless volunteer whose actions have had an incredibly positive impact on his community,” adds MEDA President David S. Ianucci. “He is a most deserving recipient of the MEDA Volunteer of the Year Award for 2011.”
In addition to the Volunteer of the Year Award, MEDA also will present eight other major awards during its awards banquet, according to the release.
