Captain Avery Museum: Oyster Expert to Speak at Luncheon
The museum near Edgewater will focus on how oysters help improve the water of Chesapeake Bay.

Captain Avery Museum has announced the guest speaker at the Winter Luncheon will be John Bacon, chairman of the Chesapeake Beach Oyster Cultivation Society.
Bacon will talk about the oyster cycle and activities and student education available at the Oyster Cultivation Society.
The speech will also include a live demonstration of how efficient the mollusks are at cleaning Bay water, pointing out how a single adult oyster can filter 50 gallons of water per day.

A luncheon of homemade soup, dessert and specialty bread will be served after Bacon’s speech.
The event takes place on Wednesday, Feb. 11. Doors will be open at 11 a.m. The program featuring Bacon will begin at 11:30 a.m.

Admission to the event is $20. To register for the event, call Peggy Tucker at 410-266-8846 or visit the Captain Avery Museum website. Anyone who wishes to make a last-minute cancellation is asked to call Tucker so people on the waiting list can be accommodated.
