Here are the top stories today in Glen Burnie:
- A 5-year-old girl has died after she was found unresponsive in a home in the 2800 block of Pelham Avenue on Nov. 15. According to police, at around 6 p.m., police began rendering life saving medical aid to Nivea Anderson. She was taken to the hospital and transported to John Hopkins Pediatrics where doctors pronounced her dead a short time later. She had bruising on her face from prior abuse. This marks Baltimore's 300th homicide. (Wmar2news)
- Baltimore Police have confirmed a person of interest has been identified in the case of a 69-year-old woman who was killed inside of a church in East Baltimore. Police haven’t released any other details on the individual. On Wednesday, Gov. Larry Hogan announced an all hands on deck effort to find Evelyn Player’s killer. (2wmarnews)
- A new face will now greet everyone coming into the Chesapeake Arts Center’s Studio 194 Theatre. It’s the face of Maya Angelou, the legendary poet and civil rights activist, depicted in this mural unveiled Tuesday outside the center. Donna Anderson, executive director of Chesapeake Arts Center, said that one of the goals of this project is to invite people to come to Chesapeake Arts Center. “She’s an inspirational person and she could bring people together,” said Kenya Scott, eighth-grader at Brooklyn Park Middle School.
