Glen Burnie: Drug arrest

Police arrested a Pasadena man Friday and charged him with multiple drug-related offenses.
Officers responded to the 6600 block of Ritchie Highway S. in Glen Burnie at about 9 p.m. to investigate a report of a suspicious person sitting in a 2009 Mitsubishi Galant. Police found John Melvin Brown Jr., 36, sitting in the car and noticed a strong order of suspected marijuana. Police then searched the Galant to find nearly 205 grams of suspected marijuana and also found a large amount of money, which was seized as drug proceeds.

Police arrested Brown and charged him with multiple drug-related offenses.

Glen Burnie: Sexual assault
Two men sexually assaulted a Glen Burnie woman in her apartment located in the 400 block of Secluded Post Circle.
At about 12:30 a.m. police responded to find a female victim who said two males approached her as she entered her apartment building. The men forced her into her apartment and sexually assaulted her.
Officers searched the area but were unable to locate the men. The criminal investigation division sex offense unit is actively investigating this case and urges anyone with information to call Detective Jack Hartzell at 410-222-3750.

Brooklyn Park: Robbery arrest
Police arrested a Glen Burnie man Feb. 10 and charged him with stealing the purses of three women.
A 76-year-old woman was robbed at the Shoppers Food Warehouse in the 5700 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park as she pushed her shopping cart to her car. According to police, Christopher Alan Northcraft, 23, is charged with driving up to the woman in his car, getting out of the car, approaching the woman and stealing her purse.
Police said Northcraft then got back into a dark-colored, older model vehicle that he was driving and fled the area. Police and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.
Through investigation, detectives developed profile of a suspect and visited several addresses in an attempt to locate him, finding him at a residence on Lacrosse Lane in Glen Burnie. Through further investigation, police said they believe he is responsible for two additional purse thefts happening on Dec .29, 2010, in the parking lot in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway.
Police charged Nothcraft with three counts of robbery, assault and theft.

Glen Burnie: Drug arrest
A tip about a suspicious package in Glen Burnie recently led to the arrest of an Arnold man on drug and traffic charges, according to Anne Arundel County Police.
Robert Earl Greenstreet, 34, was arrested on charges of possession of marijuana, with intent to distribute and numerous related traffic charges.
On Feb. 9, county police received a tip about a suspicious package being delivered to a Glen Burnie apartment building, according to a police release. Detectives conducted surveillance on the apartment building around 9 a.m. and observed the package being delivered.
Detectives then saw Greenstreet enter the apartment building, leave with the package and get into a Dodge Magnum. Detectives followed the Magnum, saw Greenstreet commit a traffic violation and pulled him over.
During the traffic stop, Greenstreet fled in the vehicle, but officers apprehended him a short time later. Officers discovered that he threw the package from his vehicle as he fled the traffic stop and located and seized the package near the location where police pulled him over.
Police recovered approximately 490 grams of suspected high-grade marijuana with an estimated street value of $13,500.

Glen Burnie: Drug arrest
Police officers arrested a Glen Burnie man Feb. 9 and charged him with multiple drug charges.
According to police, officers pulled Reynaldo Shaun Timmons, 41, over for a traffic stop at about 8 p.m. Feb. 9. Police searched Timmons and found 18 grams of crack cocaine, more then $1,000 in cash and a digital scale.
Timmons was arrested and charged with possession of crack cocaine, possession with intent to distribute crack cocaine and possession of controlled dangerous substance paraphernalia.

Glen Burnie: Attempted robbery arrest
Police arrested an Annapolis man who they said flagged down a woman the morning of Feb. 9, stating he had a knife and announcing a robbery.
According to police, Stephen Jason Atkins, 35, flagged the woman down near Aquahart Road and Sharon Drive at about 6:25 a.m. and appeared to be in distress. Once she put down her window, Atkins tried to rob her. The victim was able to drive away and leave the area, police said, and called the police.
Officers searched the area and found Atkins on Aquahart Road. The victim returned to the area and identified Atkins as the man who flagged her down.
Police arrested Atkins and charged him with attempted robbery.

Glen Burnie: Armed robbery arrest
An 18-year-old man was arrested Feb. 7 for the armed robbery of Vizzini’s Pizza.
Police responded to the store in the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard and spoke with a male employee who said Mark Steven McDermott entered the store, showed a shotgun and demanded money, police said. The employee said he complied and the man ran away.
Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to find the man.
Through investigation, robbery detectives developed a suspect and located McDermott at a residence on McGuirk Drive. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery, first-degree assault, reckless endangerment and theft under $1,000.

Glen Burnie: Fire
An office chair ignited after it was left next to an unattended space heater in a building at 150 Penrod Court around 7 p.m. Feb. 7. Firefighters responded to an alert that the building's sprinkler system was activated and found the small fire, which was controlled by the sprinkler system. The office chair was damaged, but no damage estimate was available.

Glen Burnie:
According to a letter sent out by Principal William Heiser, a student who used a retractable baton in a fight Monday morning was arrested and charged.
The fight, which happened at about 9:20 a.m., occurred between Carlton Jones, 17, and another 17-year-old male student in a first floor hallway, police said. During the fight Jones hit the other student with the baton, sending him to the hospital to be treated for his injuries.
"The [school resource officer's] investigation revealed that Jones was in possession of an expandable metal baton. The expandable baton is similar to those carried by law enforcement personnel," said police spokesman Justin Mulcahy. "As a result of the investigation, Jones was arrested for the weapons offense and charges arising from the fight."
Jones, a Glen Burnie resident, was charged as an adult with first- and second- degree assault, reckless endangerment and possession of a deadly weapon, Mulcahy said.
