A 42-year-old woman was hit by an SUV Friday evening in Glen Burnie near the Cromwell Light Rail Station and suffered life-threatening injuries.

Officers from the Anne Arundel County's Northern District responded at about 7:30 p.m. to assist the Maryland Transit Police with a report of a pedestrian struck at 7390 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd.

When officers arrived on the scene they found a pedestrian lying in the roadway with non-life threatening injuries. The striking vehicle did not remain on the scene and is believed to be a Sports Utility Vehicle but the make is unknown.

The initial investigation revealed that the pedestrian was in a designated crosswalk but was crossing against the 'Don't Walk' pedestrian signals.

The victim, identified as Enid Choloh Dukule of Gwynn Oak, a Maryland Transit employee, was crossing Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in a dark area while wearing dark clothing and was struck by the vehicle traveling south on Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.

Anne Arundel County Fire Department Paramedic 31 personnel transported Dukule to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Unit where she remained in critical condition.

The investigation indicated that pedestrian error is the primary cause of the crash. The Traffic Safety Section was contacted at about 10 p.m. Friday and advised that Dukule's injuries had become life threatening.

Severn/Glen Burnie:

Anne Arundel County Police arrested a Severn man Wednesday morning, alleging that he assaulted his roommate with a knife and stole his car and some money.

Police charged Cruz Antonio Santos, 45, of the 500 block of Queenstown Rd. in Severn with theft and assault, among other charges. Upon his arrest, police also determined that Santos was a convicted sex offender who was in violation of registration laws. 

According to police, police responded to the 7800 block of Parke West Drive in Glen Burnie at around 5:35 a.m. Wednesday. The victim, a 55-year old male, called police after he woke up to see his roommate swinging a knife and demanding money, according to the police report. He walked from his home on Queenstown Road to a payphone on Parke West Drive.

The victim received laceration wounds during a struggle that ultimately ended with Santos taking money, a mobile phone, and a vehicle, police said.

Officers obtained a warrant and recovered the stolen vehicle when they arrested Santos.

Police charged Santos with armed robbery, first- and second-degree assault, and unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, in addition to theft and reckless endangerment.

Santos was also charged with seven violations relating to his failure to properly register as a convicted sex offender.

Glen Burnie: Two young males rescued from ravine

Two boys got a hand from the fire department after they go stuck in an icy ravine in Sawmill Creek Park Wednesday evening. Emergency responders arrived at the ravine near 301 Dorsey Rd. around 5:39 p.m. and assisted the youth out of the steep ravine, which had become slick with frozen mud. There were no injuries. Information was not available on the age of the boys.

Glen Burnie: Commercial armed robbery

A man stole money from the register of the Green Tree Exxon on Crain Highway last Monday night, police said.

According to police, the Exxon clerk said a man came into the store, purchased some items and left. Several minutes later, the man re-entered the story holding a handgun and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied, police said, and the man fled the store in the direction of the car wash next door with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers and a K-9 unite searched the area but were unable to locate the man, police said.
