Duckpins for SUDC, Police Captain Swap and School Board Budget Hearings

A look back at some of the stories from the week of Jan. 10 to Jan. 16.

This week we had a good variety of stories featured on Glen Burnie Patch including coverage of the , a feature on a Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC) fundraiser and a switch in commands at the and Southern police districts.

Members of the PTA spoke at a Board of Education budget hearing Jan. 13, explaining why instead of being separated into two buildings by grade levels. A Jan. 11 meeting was scheduled to be held at was canceled due to inclement weather that also let county students out two hours early.

Patch contributor Collin Wojciechowski wrote of his , urging interested high school juniors to attend an so they can learn more about becoming the board's next student member.

Baltimore parents Julie and Pete Dowley held a fundraiser at Glen Burnie Bowl in who died suddenly in August 2009 from what is called Sudden Unexplained Death in Childhood (SUDC). They said they hope to raise awareness of the lesser-known diagnosis that is similar to sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) but for children over the age of 1.
