Fire Destroys Brooklyn Park Home
One resident was taken to the Shock Trauma Center with non life-threatening injuries.

A 50-year-old man was hospitalized after a house fire around 5:12 this morning in the 900 block of Church Street in Brooklyn Park.
The cause of the fire, which displaced two adults, was determined to be accidental, said Anne Arundel County Fire Department spokesman Capt. James Rostek.

The man was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with serious but not life-threatening injuries. Rostek said fire officials estimate there was about $200,000 worth of damage to the home, which is owned by Jerie and Amely Refugia, according to the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation.
"They'd lived there for about 20 years," said Darrin Stevens, president of the Arundel Neighborhoods Association.
