UPDATE: Fires in Glen Burnie and Brooklyn Park
A fire Wednesday morning destroyed a vacant home on Glen Oak Avenue and a kitchen fire caused $40,000 in damage to a Brooklyn Park home.
As of noon, firefighters were on location battling a fire in the 800 block of Glen Oak Avenue, fire officials said.
Firefighters received a report of a vacant single-family home on fire at 11 a.m., said fire spokesman Lt. Clifford Kooser. There were no reported injuries and the fire was under control by 11:25 a.m., Kooser said. The cause of the fire was unknown.
"This one is definitely under investigation," Kooser said.

In Brooklyn Park, an apparent unattended cooking accident resulted in a kitchen fire on the 300 block of Midland Avenue, he said.
Firefighters responded at 12:23 p.m. and 40 firefighters had the blaze under control by 12:40 p.m. The fire caused an estimatd $40,000 worth of damage, Kooser said.

He said one adult and two teens were displaced by the fire and the American Red Cross is assisting the residents.
