Glen Burnie Native Steve Clevenger Traded to Orioles

Clevenger and pitcher Scott Feldman were traded from the Chicago Cubs Tuesday.

Call it a homecoming for Steve Clevenger.

The catcher and Glen Burnie native was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, the team announced, along with right-handed pitcher Scott Feldman. The Orioles gave up reliever Pedro Strop and starter Jake Arrieta, along with international signing bonus slot money.

Clevenger has been optioned to Triple-A Norfolk. His agent told CBS Sports Clevenger is "in tears. It's almost a dream come true."

Clevenger graduated Mount St. Joseph High School in 2004 and was taken by the Cubs in the seventh round of the 2006 draft, while a student at Chipola College in Florida.

He made his major-league debut as a September call-up in 2011, and made the Opening Day roster for the Cubs in 2012. In eight games with the Cubs this season, he's batting .125 with one hit and one walk in eight at-bats.

Feldman, who is 7-6 in 15 starts with a 3.46 ERA, was scheduled to start the Cubs game Tuesday in Oakland, according to ChicagoCubsonline.com. He will join the Orioles rotation immediately, according to a Tweet from MLB.com reporter Britt Ghiroli.
