Jet Ski Rider Arrested After Hitting Swimmers On Magothy River

A Glen Burnie man was charged with attempted murder after he struck swimmers with his jet ski on the Magothy River Sunday night.

ANNE ARUNDEL, MD — A Glen Burnie man was charged with attempted murder after he struck swimmers with his jet ski on the Magothy River Sunday night, Maryland Natural Resources Police said.

Police said Joseph B. Ireland, 28, got into a fight with a group of people on Dobbins Island at about 8 p.m.

Ireland allegedly got onto his jet ski and hit at least two people who were wading in the water.

Police arrested Ireland on a slew of charges, including: attempted first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, resisting arrest and more.

He is being held without bond, police said.
