Here are the top stories in Glen Burnie today:
- The Library at the Mall: The Community Pantry Discoveries - Library at the mall has been very busy since it opened on July 17. "We've distributed basic baby and women's supplies to more than 200 families from 22 different zip codes in Maryland (and one from DC)! It is clear that there is great need for the items we provide, and we are happy to add pantry distribution to the services at our location inside the Westfield Annapolis Mall. We’ve also been able to offer library cards, story time that coincides with Saturday morning pantry distribution and other resources like vaccination appointments with Centro de Ayuda for those utilizing the pantry," the library stated in the post. (Anne Arundel Library)
- "THE UPSTANDERS" - A film about cyber bullying: AACPS will be screening four documentaries about mental health and wellness topics during the 2021-22 school year. These films will be accompanied by lesson activities that tie into the messages of the films. We encourage parents and community members to watch these screenings, which will be followed by a pre-recorded panel discussion about the film's topic. The first documentary that AACPS will be featuring is called “The Upstanders” in recognition of Bullying Prevention Month. “The Upstanders” explores all sides of cyberbullying from bully to victim, bystanders and family members. It shows the importance of empathy and resilience to transforming attitudes and action. It shows that everyone is needed to eradicate cyberbullying and gives bystanders the confidence and tools to become “The Upstanders” and change the narrative. (Anne Arundel Public Schools)
