Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: TJ Ellwein

Tyler Jordan (TJ) Ellwein is one of four Eagle Scouts in the running to be awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation's Spirit of America Award.

  • Whiz Kid’s Accomplishment: TJ is one of four Eagle Scouts selected as finalists to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor Foundation's Spirit of America Award for his project restoring Chaplain's Hill at Arlington National Cemetery.
  • Whiz Kid’s Key to Awesomeness: TJ's project was selected as the 2010 Eagle Scout Project of the Year for the Baltimore Area Council of Boy Scouts of America. The project involved cleaning and restoring the headstones of chaplains and assistants by removing bird droppings, algae, moss and dirt that had been damaging the stones for years. TJ recruited 40 people from his high school, Annapolis Area Christian School, and his Boy Scout Troop to help him clean 400 headstones. TJ's project took a year to plan and carry out, along with 476 hours of work.
