Police Charge Man in Kidnapping of Ex-Girlfriend

Shannona Yearby, 34, was arrested in connection with the kidnapping and assault of a 28-year-old woman who Baltimore County police say is his ex-girlfriend.

A 34-year-old Glen Burnie man faces kidnapping, robbery and other charges in connection with a Feb. 18 incident in Milford Mill, police said.

Baltimore County police arrested Shannona Lavell Yearby, 34, of the 100 block of North Meadow Drive and charged him with kidnapping, first- and second-degree assault and theft, as he allegedly took his ex-girlfriend's cell phone, according to a police report.

The phone was later returned.

At 8:40 p.m. that day, Yearby was allegedly waiting for his 28-year-old former girlfriend to leave work in Milford Mill, according to the report.

After she left work in the 8000 block of Liberty Road, Yearby allegedly assaulted her at a bus stop and forced her into his vehicle, the report states. He then stopped his car and allegedly strangled her, causing her to become unconscious, police said.

Police located and arrested Yearby after they discovered information about his vehicle tag, according to the report.

Yearby is being held at Baltimore County Detention Center, according to court records.
