Resident Finds 'Grenade' in Yard

Device found in Brooklyn Park was deemed safe by bomb squad.

A Brooklyn Park resident, after finding what he thought was a grenade while working in his backyard, took the device to the Brooklyn Park Volunteer Fire Company, fire officials said.

The man found the device at about 6 p.m. when firefighters cleared the area and called on the Annapolis Bomb Unit who in turn rendered the device to be safe, said county fire spokesman Battalion Chief Steve Thompson.
