Today in Glen Burnie:

  • Marley Civic League at Methodist Church. (9 a.m.)
  • Grand Opening — Morris Tile Distributors. (3 p.m.)

From my notebook:

  • "In the snow-covered hills of Cunningham Falls State Park in Thurmont, a crowd of roughly 40 people gathered around a wood fire, many sipping hot chocolate or coffee, all zoned in on the area just above the flame. The sun shined bright and there wasn't a cloud in the sky, but it was cold, more so because of blustery winds and the snow-covered ground. The crowd, however, wasn't by the fire for warmth." (Yahoo News)
  • "State troopers will be patrolling Maryland roads this week in force due to the St. Patrick's Day holiday. They will be concentrating on areas known for higher numbers of DUI crashes or arrests now through Sunday, March 20, police said in a statement Tuesday. Each of the 23 Maryland State Police barracks will focus on impaired, aggressive, and distracted driving, with patrols bolstered by funding from the Maryland Department of Transportation and Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration's Highway Safety Office targeting impaired drivers."
