Tropical Storm Ida Damage Could Reduce Property Assessments

Maryland residents and business owners who experienced property damage can request a survey that could possibly reduce assessments.

MARYLAND — Residents and business owners whose property was damaged by Tropical Depression Ida can contact the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation to see if they can have their property assessments reduced. Maryland residents can fill out this form and email it to their local SDAT assessment office.

“SDAT is well-versed in natural disaster response and we stand ready to assist Marylanders whose property has been damaged or destroyed in the path of Hurricane Ida,” SDAT Director Michael Higgs said.

Multiple locations across Maryland were impacted by flooding and power outages caused by Ida. SDAT’s assessors are currently logging affected properties and will begin surveying damage in the coming weeks. In order to have property assessed, residents and business owners must submit the form to their local assessment office.
