Two Arrested After Shooting at Glen Burnie Moose Lodge
According to police, the incident occurred when a man and a teen were refused entry to a party being held at the Moose Lodge.
Police arrested a man and a teen from Annapolis at the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge early Sunday morning after a shooting incident that police said resulted from the males not being allowed to enter a 16th birthday party being held at the lodge.
A 19-year-old woman from Severn was grazed by a bullet in the lower part of her body but refused treatment at the scene for what police called a "superficial wound."
Desmond Smith, 23, and Tijee Benett, 16, of Annapolis were arrested and charged with reckless discharge of a firearm, reckless endangerment and other charges. Benett was charged as an adult.

According to police, officers responded to the Moose Lodge in the 1900 block of Crain Highway at about 11:15 p.m. after they received a report of a large crowd of disorderly people. While in the parking lot, police heard several gunshots and saw a blue Ford Crown Victoria leaving the lot. The 19-year-old woman was injured as she ran from the area.
Officers stopped the car and detained the five people who were inside. Police also found and recovered a handgun on Crain Highway, near the exit of the Moose Lodge parking lot.

According to police, an investigation determined that the incident was a result of the man and the teen not being allowed into the party taking place at the Moose Lodge, which had been rented out for a 16th birthday party.
Officers reported that, despite a rental agreement that stated security was to be provided by the renter, there was no security in place.
A request for comment from someone with the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge was not immediately returned.
The investigation is ongoing.
