Suspect in Custody, Victim's Name Released in Adelphi Homicide

Prince George's County police say the suspect argued with the victim which led to the homicide.

Prince George’s County Police have arrested Rudolph Timothy Phelps Sr., of the 9200 block of Edwards Way in Adelphi, on charges of first-degree murder.

Patrol officers were called to the 9200 block of Edwards Way for a welfare check on Friday at about 11:30 a.m. When they arrived, they found Karen Irene Siegman, 61, inside a condo suffering from trauma to the body, according to police. Siegman was pronounced dead on scene.

Phelps was arrested on Friday evening.

Preliminary investigation suggests Phelps recently had an argument with Siegman which escalated to the homicide, authorities say.

Phelps is charged with first-degree murder.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the homicide is asked to call the Prince George’s County Police Department’s Homicide Unit at 301-772-4925.
