Fire Department Identifies Victim of Chapelgate Fire

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department has identified the woman who died as a result of a house fire in Odenton last week. 

The department said Blanche Anderson, 92, was unable to escape the fire on Tenbrook Drive on Dec. 12. 

Department officials confirmed that her death was directly related to the fire. It is the sixth fatality from fire in Anne Arundel County this year. 

A 15-year-old who was also in the house at the time escape without injury.

The fire department said the cause of the blaze is under investigation, but that it appears to have started at the first floor of the home. The fire caused an estimated $150,000 in damages.
