Man Beaten with a Baseball Bat in Hanover

Officers are still searching for the suspect after police confiscated the assault weapon, an aluminum baseball bat.

A 33-year old man was flown to Shock Trauma Monday night after he was beaten severely with a baseball bat in Hanover. The suspect, described as a 40-year old male, fled the scene before officers arrived on scene, according to police.

Police said the incident took place around 7 p.m. on the 1500 block of Matthews Town Road.

After speaking with the victim and witnesses, officers were told that a man grabbed an aluminum baseball bat and struck the 33-year old victim repeatedly before fleeing the scene on foot. After searching the area, police were unable to find the man suspected of the beating.

As paramedics arrived, the victim was taken to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center where his injuries were declared to be non-life threatening.

Police also said the incident was not a random act of violence and that the investigation is ongoing.
