Police Report Attempted Robbery Near Big Lots

Anne Arundel County police responded Tuesday night to a reported robbery attempt near the Big Lots store on Annapolis Road in Hanover. 

According to a police statement, officers responded at about 7:50 p.m. to the parking lot in front of the store after receiving a call about a man with a handgun.

Police interviewed a man who said that he was placing items in the trunk of his car when another man came out of a nearby wooded area and pointed a handgun at him. 

According to police, the suspect told the victim, "This is a one time offer." 

The victim then ran from the area, and the suspect also ran off.

Police officers searched the area on foot and with the help of a K-9 unit and air unit, but did not find the suspect.
