Ruppersberger Votes for Defense Act, Funds for NSA
The act includes more than $250 million for a high-performance computer center for the NSA.

U.S. Rep. C.A. "Dutch" Ruppersberger (D-District 2)voted last week in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act, which included funds for a new high-performance computing center at Fort Meade.
Ruppersberger joined with members of Congress in passing the bill by a vote of 315-107. The bill allows for $633.3 billion in discretionary spending on defense for fiscal year 2013.Â
The act calls for $251 million for upgrades to buildings for the National Security Agency and a high-performance computing center. In addition, it calls for a 1.7 percent pay raise for troops, the strengthening of sanctions against Iran, and a relaxing of export restrictions on satellites and their parts.Â
