A brief look at the week that was.

The week began with BGE and other cable providers fearing the worst. The remnant of last weekend’s wintery mix set up a as heavy winds tore through the area, causing trees and heavy branches to down power lines all over Anne Arundel County.
The winds proved to have a larger bark than bite, and Thursday’s torrential rain caused more problems than the week’s earlier storm. BGE employees were hard at work later in the week, restoring power to more than 90,000 residents.
In police and fire news, a while running away from an unruly incident last weekend at the Glen Burnie Moose Lodge.

The Great House Debate
Those in favor of same-sex marriage had a good week as the Senate a bill that could lead to its legalization. After first giving to the bill, heated debates took place Friday as citizens and officials from both sides of the spectrum sounded off on the matter.

Hoop Dreams
Severn could have been nicknamed “the land of hoops” this past week with every major high school in the area competing for a championship or playoff game. The boys team for , but the Lady Cavaliers of Archbishop Spalding and the boys of Old Mill both won their highly anticipated matchups.

A special congratulation goes to Archbishop Spalding’s girls' team due to their earlier this week. Depending on the rankings, Spalding could be a nationally-ranked squad.
12 Hour Jammin’
The week ended to the aggressive but delightful sound of bluegrass. In an effort to raise funds for the Fisher House Foundation, local musicians jammed all day long. Patch was on hand to capture some great of the wonderful sounds.
