Woman Dies After Being Struck On Parkway

A woman was found on the side of the Baltimore-Washington Parkway and later died at a hospital, a fire department spokesman said.

A woman has died after being struck by a vehicle on the Baltimore-Washington Parkway Tuesday afternoon, a fire department spokesman said.  

Battalion Chief Steve Thompson of the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said units received a call of a woman who had been struck while walking on or along the road near Maryland Route 100 West. 

Thompson said she was found with very critical injuries and was transported to the Shock Trauma center in Baltimore, where she later died.

Thompson said investigators were working to identify the woman, who was believed to be approximately 23 years old. He said it was still unclear how she was hurt and which vehicle struck her. 

The incident caused lanes on the Parkway to be closed Tuesday afternoon as police remained on the scene to investigate.
