Rosedale Auto Shop Fire: Mechanic Reportedly Hospitalized
A building fire on Philadelphia Road snarled traffic and closed businesses, officials say.
BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Fire broke out at a commercial building in Rosedale Wednesday afternoon, reportedly sending one person to the hospital and drawing dozens of firefighters to the area. Traffic was jammed around US 40/Pulaski Highway and MD 7/Philadelphia Road during the emergency response, which continued through rush hour.
Around 4 p.m., crews were called to a building fire in the 7300 block of Philadelphia Road, where they found heavy fire.
A car burst into flames while a mechanic was working on it at an auto shop, requiring a rescue, according to WMAR, which attributed the extensive response to the number of flammable items.

Route 7 was shut down at Route 40, the Maryland State Highway Administration reported before 6:15 p.m. All lanes were closed, officials said.
After 7 p.m., traffic was backed up on Route 40 west, which was closed at Rosedale Avenue.
