Fire Kills Man In Baltimore County, 'A Two-Year-Old’s Without A Daddy': Report

A fire killed a man in Baltimore County after an unattended cooking blaze. "If you knew him, you loved him," a neighbor told WMAR.

ARBUTUS, MD — A 38-year-old man died Wednesday in an Arbutus apartment fire, officials said.

Firefighters identified the victim as Urian Bridges.

“Funny. If you knew him, you loved him. Outgoing,” neighbor Adrienne Folks told WMAR, remembering the victim. “There was many a night I got off work, dark parking lot, he sat out here and watched me to make sure I got in safe. Very hilarious person, and it’s just sad. Now, a two-year-old’s without a daddy.”

Crews said they were called to the 4400 block of Alan Drive at 4:19 a.m.

The resident told 911 he couldn't escape the apartment.

First responders said they arrived within minutes and found flames coming from a second-floor apartment.

Firefighters said they found the victim deceased in a hallway.

Investigators said the accidental fire was caused by unattended cooking.
