Armed Robbers Dressed As Officers Invade Kingsville Home

Police said Monday that residents should be cautious when answering the door for people who say they are officers following a home invasion robbery in Kingsville Monday morning.

Two armed men who said they were police officers forced their way into a home in the 7400 block of Mount Vista Road around 8:30 a.m. March 4, police spokesman Lt. Robert McCullough said in an email.

Once inside the robbers tied up two men inside the home and stole numerous items, including cash, McCullough wrote. The two victims were eventually freed by a family member and one had to be transported to a Baltimore County hospital to be treated for minor injuries.  

"Baltimore County police are warning [residents] to be cautious when answering their doors for persons identifying themselves as police officers. All police officers should have proper identification in addition to a badge," McCullough wrote. "If [residents] have any doubt, they are being advised to call 911 or their local police precinct. They should not open the door."

Baltimore County police detectives are asking anyone with information about this crime to call 410-307-2020. They can also contact Metro Crime Stoppers at 1-877-7-LOCKUP, where callers may be eligible for a reward.
