Fight Outside MD State Fair Injures Officers, Prompts Arrests: Police

Officers were hurt while breaking up a fight outside the Timonium Fairgrounds. A large group of minors was involved in the scuffle.

TIMONIUM, MD — Officers suffered minor injuries while breaking up a fight between a large group of juveniles this weekend near the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, the Baltimore County Police Department told Patch.

Authorities working at the fair said they encountered the fight Saturday around 9:15 p.m. The fight did not happen inside the fairgrounds.

Police said they made several arrests and are reviewing video surveillance to determine if additional charges or arrests are necessary.

Parent Tarsha Grant told WMAR she isn't too concerned, but she will take precautions when attending the fair.

"I will not be coming at night," Grant told WMAR. "I try to get out early and try to get home before it gets too dark or before some of the younger crowd comes because to me that's the issue when a lot of the younger crowd comes."

Fair General Manager Andy Cashman told WMAR anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian, but the children bypassed this rule by having someone older bring them.
