Perry Hall High Senior Named Young Woman of Year

A Perry Hall High senior is Baltimore County's young woman of the year, school officials announced Tuesday.

The Baltimore County Commission for Woman gave McCall Behringer the award for its 31st annual woman of the year awards. County Executive Kevin Kamenetz will honor her, along with Gloria Nelson, the Baltimore County woman of the year, and the family of the late Judge S. Ann Brobst, the Baltimore County Woman Making a Difference, at a ceremony on March 21.

Behringer is a three-sport athlete, flautist and theater student at Perry Hall. She also volunteers for charities including the American Lung Association, Hopewell Cancer Center, March of Dimes and National Kidney Foundation, according to a Baltimore County Public Schools release. She was named a National Kidney Foundation All-Star in 2012.

“Simply put, McCall is a stellar student, superb role model, caring person and very worthy recipient of the 2013 Baltimore County Young Woman of the Year award,” Perry Hall High School Principal George A. Roberts said in the release. “The entire Perry Hall community is very proud of McCall and wishes her continued success in her college career.”

Behringer is also the National Young Marine of the Year, a leadership and ethics training role that has sent her as a representative on trips to Hawaii, Guam and Iwo Jima, according to the release.

Behringer will attend Duquesne University next fall, and plans to pursue a career in public relations, according to the release.
