Report: Brown Leads Democratic Rivals in New Poll

But 33 percent of likely voters say they're undecided.

Lt. Gov. Anthony Brown has an early lead in the race for the Democratic nomination for governor a recent poll by Gonzales Research and Marketing shows. 

The poll shows 41 percent of likely voters are currently backing Brown, with 21 percent saying they support Attorney General Doug Gansler and 5 percent backing Del. Heather Mizeur, according to The Washington Post.

But 33 percent of voters said they were still uncertain about who they will back.

Brown leads in both the Baltimore metro area and the Washington D.C. suburbs, according to the poll.  Brown, who is trying to become the first black governor of Maryland, enjoys the broad support of African-Americans voters, with 56 percent supporting his run and only 12 percent backing Gansler.
