"Fighting in schools will not be tolerated. It is dangerous and extremely disruptive to the school operations," Thanner said in a letter to families. "We will take swift disciplinary action and may refer students to law enforcement."

The principal encouraged "students to speak with a trusted adult when they have conflict with another student."

"I want to reiterate that weapons are strictly prohibited on school property," he said. "Students who are found to be in possession of such dangerous items will receive serious consequences and may be referred to law enforcement for further action."

Thanner said anybody with questions can contact the school.

"I want you to be assured that our focus is on providing a safe environment that is conducive to learning and that the safety of our students and staff is our top priority," Thanner said.
