Swimmer Still Missing At Baltimore County Quarry

A missing swimmer still hasn't been found after two days of searching. He was last seen in a Baltimore County quarry.

COCKEYSVILLE, MD — A swimmer who went missing Sunday in a Baltimore County quarry still wasn't found after a second day of searching on Monday.

The Baltimore County Police Department will resume searching on Tuesday.

The Baltimore County Fire Department said it was called to Cockeysville's Beaver Dam Swimming Club on Sunday at 6:06 p.m.

A male swimmer, 36, had been seen struggling in the water and went under, crews said. Dive operations were suspended overnight Sunday and resumed Monday morning.

Crews used handheld sonar devices, divers, recovery dogs and an underwater robot from the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Beaver Dam Swimming Club spans about 30 acres. It offers two pools that reach up to 5 feet deep. It also has a freshwater quarry that averages 40 feet deep and is only recommended for strong swimmers.
