The Maryland Film Festival, which started Wednesday, continues through the weekend. Films will be shown at venues including The Charles Theatre, the Brown Center and the Windup Space in Baltimore.

"American Idiot," a musical featuring a songs from the Green Day album of the same name, wraps its run at the Hippodrome.

Saturday

Pimlico Race Course hosts the Preakness 5K. Proceeds benefit the Maryland affiliate of Susan G. Komen For The Cure.

The annual Lithuanian Festival opens in Catonsville. It continues through Sunday.

Country star Phil Vassar performs at Pier Six.

Collectors Con, a new convention run by the comic book store Collectors Corner, will be held in White Marsh. Guests include writer Fred Van Lente, illustrator Greg LaRocque and Super Art Fight. A replica of the Batmobile from the 1960s "Batman" television series will also be on display.

The annual Sweetlife Festival at Merriweather Post Pavilion features artists including Phoenix and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
