Animal Lovers: Check Out Fall Festival and Pet Adoption Event

Prince George's County residents are welcomed to a day of fall activities and animal adoption Oct. 27.

A pet costume contest, face painting, and animal adoptions are just a few of the offerings at the Fall Festival hosted by the Prince George’s County Department of Environmental Resources’ Animal Management Division.

The kid-friendly event will take place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 27 at the Animal Services Facility, 3750 Brown Station Road, in Upper Marlboro.

Guests can expect informational booths, a bake sale, a Halloween parade, a costume contest for pets and their owners, and more!

Prizes will be given for the following categories:

  • Best Costume dog and cat
  • Best Costume other pet
  • Most Original Costume
  • Cutest Couple (dog/dog, cat/cat, human/dog, human/cat)

“Our Fall Festival is a great way for families and pet lovers alike to celebrate the season,” Associate Director of AMD Rodney Taylor said. “We invite those with pets to bring them along, and for those searching for a new four-legged friend, we encourage you to visit with our many wonderful animals waiting for a loving, permanent home.”

From noon to 2 p.m., rabies shots for $5 and distemper shots for $10 will be available as well as a microchip clinic for $25.
