3 MoCo Nursing Homes Fined For COVID-19 Control Failures: Report

The state has reportedly levied six-figure fines against three nursing homes in Montgomery County.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Maryland health officials have fined three nursing homes in Montgomery County for failing to properly isolate possibly contagious patients, The Washington Post reports.

The state levied six-figure fines against Potomac Valley Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, Collingswood Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center, and Kensington Healthcare Center after conducting COVID-19 surveys at the nursing homes.

Potomac Valley and Collingswood Rehabilitation, both in Rockville, were fined $120,000 and $275,000, respectively, according to documents obtained by The Post. Kensington Healthcare Center was penalized $294,000.

The facilities were all cited for inadequate infection control measures.

Citing inspectors, The Post reported that one resident died at Potomac Valley after a nurse failed to provide basic life support.

At least 78 residents from Potomac Valley, Collingswood, and Kensington Healthcare have died from COVID-19 since the spring, according to The Post.
