8 Injured In Riot At Youth Detention Center
Eight inmates were arrested after assaulting eight staff members during a riot at Victor Cullen Center, a juvenile-detention facility.

SABILLASVILLE, MD — Eight inmates were charged after a riot broke out at an all-male juvenile-detention facility in Frederick's County Saturday morning, Maryland State Police said.
Police responded to a call for a disturbance at the maximum-security facility Victor Cullen Center in Sabillasville at about 11:30 a.m.
Investigation reveals two juveniles got into a fight, which led to other inmates engaging in physical altercations with staff members, police said.

Eight staff members were assaulted during the incident and three were transported to area hospitals for treatment of injuries.
Arriving officers found some juveniles standing on the roof of the dormitory. Police established a perimeter and a negotiator spoke through a radio with the juveniles thought to be leading the riot.

The inmates stole keys and radios from staff members during the riot, police said. They also kicked out a window, kicked in an office trailer door and broke a trailer window, police said.
Three suspects were charged as adults. They are identified as:
- Diego Glay, 19, who is charged with first degree escape, second degree assault, riot, malicious destruction of property under $1,000 and theft under $100.
- Daniel Ennos, 17, and Bernard Moore, 17, who are both charged with first degree assault, second degree assault, first degree escape, riot, malicious destruction of property under $1,000, and theft under $100.
Five other suspects were charged as juveniles. They are charged with riot, second degree assault, first degree escape, malicious destruction of property under $1,000 and theft under $100.
About 30 boys were in the facility during the riot, officials said.
All suspects charged are in the custody of the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services.
Investigators believe further charges may be filed. They will continue to work with the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services in the ongoing investigation, police said.
