A Congressional Trade (Not With the Caps), Get on the Bus, and Caleb Hawley, We Hardly Knew Ye

The Rundown 'March'es on.

When one store closes, another store opens. Or something like that.

That variation on the old saying hasn't always been true as commercial vacancies increased in the wake of the Great Recession. Luckily for Rockville, in the case of one of Congressional Plaza's anchor spaces, it holds true. Commercial real estate news leads off this first March edition as "Rundown" comes in like a (Nittany) lion:

  • The Fresh Market is replacing Whole Foods Market at Congressional Plaza, The Business Journal reported on Monday. Rockville Patch  is slated to move to the North Bethesda Market near Nicholson Lane and Rockville Pike in April.
  • The Maryland Transit Administration launches two new bus routes on the Intercounty Connector today. You can "test ride" for free until March 15. Both routes include stops at the Shady Grove Metro station and at the Norbeck Road Park and Ride lot.
  • Rockville Central is Facebook-only beginning today. As a farewell to readers at their rockvillecentral.com site, editor Cindy Cotte Griffiths posted a roundup of coverage that the move has received around the world (and the World Wide Web).
  • While I ... DO ... NOT ... watch "American Idol" (it must have something to do with the imagined hipster scorn of my former college radio colleagues) I have it on good authority () that Caleb Hawley was eliminated on last week's show. Rockville Patch was there when . A shame. He seems like a talented guy. I'm sure he'll go far even without Simon Cowell.
  • Follow us @RockvillePatch on Twitter (and maybe we'll follow you). And we're grateful for all of our "fans" (just like the Wizards and Maryland football). Our fans show us they like us by becoming fans of Rockville Patch on Facebook. It's good for our self-esteem.
