Adoption Fees Discounted During Clear The Shelter Event In MoCo

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center (MCASAC) is joining animal shelters across Maryland on Thursday, Aug. 6 to participate in the sixth annual Clear The Shelters event.

The nation's largest single-day pet adoption event, sponsored by NBC, helps shelters nationwide find permanent and loving homes for homeless animals. Adoption fees will be discounted by 50 percent throughout August in Montgomery County.

MCASAC, located at 7315 Muncaster Mill Rd. in Derwood, has been closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The upcoming Clear The Shelters event marks the adoption center's grand reopening.

"During the COVID-19 pandemic, people have shown great concern for the homeless pets of MCASAC. We've sent more animals into foster care than ever before, and continue to admit animals into our facility. We hope that the community continues to provide support, in the form of adoptions, once we reopen on Aug. 6," said MCASAC Deputy Executive Director Lex Lepiarz.
