City Announces Date for Twilight Runfest

Early registration for 8-kilometer race ends Sunday

Once again thousands of runners will soon converge in Rockville for a nighttime road race. The Darcars Rockville Rotary Twilight Runfest is Saturday, July 20.

The race benefits the City's Youth Recreation Fund, which provides financial assistance to Rockville children for city programs and community grants through the Rockville Rotary Club.

Festivities begin at 7 p.m. with music from Lloyd Dobbler Effect and 10-year-old pop singer Aishlinn Kivlighn, who will be singing the national anthem.

Rockville Mayor and Council will welcome runners at 8:30 p.m.

As for race time, the staggered starts begin at North Washington Street in town Center at 8:40 p.m. with the race’s wheelchair division; the 8-kiliometer racers start at 8:45 p.m.; the 1-kilometer fun run starts at 8:50 p.m.

The course runs through Rockville neighborhoods and the Montgomery College-Rockville Campus and turns south on Rockville Pike as it returns to town center. 

Packet pick up is at Potomac River Running in Rockville Town Square.

The registration fee is:

  • $34 online now through Sunday, June 30
  • $39 online from Monday, July 1 through Friday, July 19 (until 5 p.m. on the July 19)
  • $39 in person onFriday, July 19 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Potomac River Running
  • $45 in person on July 20 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Potomac River Running
  • $10 for the 1K fun run online or at Potomac River Running
