COVID-19 Cases In Montgomery Co. Rise By 451; Total Hits 36,449

Montgomery County on Monday recorded eight new deaths tied to COVID-19, the most it has reported in a single day since June 9.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County reported 451 new cases and eight new deaths tied to COVID-19 on Monday, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

For Maryland's most populous jurisdiction, that brings the total number of infections to 36,449 and the total number of deaths to 946 since March.

The latest fatality count does not include the 44 others whose deaths were linked to the virus, but never confirmed by a lab test. For now, they are considered "probable deaths."

The county — which is home to roughly 1 million residents — continues to have the highest number of deaths in the state. It also has the second highest number of confirmed cases, after Prince George's County, which has 44,402, according to the latest figures.

Statewide, there have been 217,329 cases, 4,705 confirmed deaths, and 160 "probable deaths." Of the 1,561 people currently being hospitalized, 388 are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
