COVID-19 Testing Halted After Concerns Raised About Lab

Concerns about AdvaGenix's lab and processing protocols have prompted officials to suspend testing at nearly all Montgomery County sites.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County has suspended COVID-19 testing at nearly all its sites amid concerns over a Rockville lab's testing and processing procedures.

Residents who were tested at county-sponsored clinics in the past two weeks should get retested, officials said in a statement. A list of testing locations can be found here.

Officials did not go into specifics, but said that AdvaGenix — the Rockville-based lab that provides the county with testing — is "reassessing their testing and lab process."

"More than 19,000 AdvaGenix tests have been used over the past two months," officials said. "This represents roughly 8 percent of the more than 251,000 COVID-19 tests that have been administered to county residents. Residents with confirmed appointments at upcoming testing clinics are being notified of the cancellations."

Appointments scheduled for Friday at the Wheaton Library and Community Recreation Center will still take place. Tests will be provided by the state.
