Discounted, Waived Adoption Fees Honored Through Aug. 30

ROCKVILLE, MD — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at Montgomery County's adoption center. The facility houses dozens of cats, dogs, and other adorable critters. And all of them need a furever home.

During the month of August, the county-run facility is discounting — or in some cases waiving — its adoption fees. It's all part of the annual Clear The Shelters event. Sponsored by NBC, Clear The Shelters helps adoption centers nationwide find permanent and loving homes for homeless animals.

In Montgomery County, adoption fees will be waived for animals that have been in the shelter for at least six weeks. The first 50 animals adopted this month will also have their fees waived, according to officials.

All other animals adoption fees will be discounted by 50 percent through Aug. 30.

Listed below are some of the adorable animals up for adoption:

NIPPSY

Nippsy is an exhuberant, silly, adorable puppy who is ready to find a family to grow up with! Nippsy will steal your heart as soon as you meet him. He has tons of energy, but even at 10 months he already has manners and is easily redirected. He loves people and other dogs and does a little excited tap dance when he sees a friend coming his way. There isn't a mean bone in Nippsy's tiny, wiggly body. He tries his hardest to please and loves to put a smile on everybody's face! He is the total package!

Nippsy's ideal person would be somebody ready to take on a young dog and all that entails. He is going to need some help continuing to mature and learn how to be a gentlemen. He needs a family who is ready to tire him out with long walks or lots of running around a yard or park.

PARSLEY

Parsley's adoption fee is half-price.

16-week-old Parsley is a shy but sweet girl who would love nothing more than to be sweeped up by her forever family this August. Our shelter is full of kittens every spring and summer (we call it kitten season!), so now is the perfect time to bring home a tiny new family member.

BLOO

Bloo's adoption fee is half-price.

Quentin Catantino is a 14-year-old orange tabby who loves attention and pets more than anything! He is described by staff members as one of the sweetest gentlemen you'll ever meet! He meows quietly when he sees you walking by, and immediately turns up the purrs as soon as you start to pet him. Quentin Catantino is a mellow, friendly, snuggle bug hoping that #ClearTheShelters is going to bring him a family to love him forever!

Quentin's perfect family would be anybody who is ready to love him in his golden years and give him all the snuggles his heart desires.
