DUI Checkpoint Targets Drunk Drivers Friday Night

Montgomery County Police will conduct a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in the county Friday, April 6.

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, MD — Police will hold a sobriety checkpoint somewhere in Montgomery County beginning at 10 p.m. Friday, April 6.

The exact location of the checkpoint will not be disclosed in advance, police said.

Deputies will be on the lookout for drivers with signs of alcohol and/or drug impairment.

Police encourage residents to have a plan, drive responsibly and choose a sober driver.

The penalties for a DUI or DWI in Maryland consist of potential jail time, fines and a minimum of a 6-month license suspension.

The checkpoint will include officers from the Montgomery County Police Department, the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office and the Maryland State Police.

This enforcement is a component of the Montgomery County Police Department’s continuing effort to curb impaired driving and underage drinking.
