North Bethesda Apartment Fire 'Contained,' HVAC May Be To Blame
Montgomery County firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire at an apartment complex in North Bethesda.

NORTH BETHESDA, MD — Montgomery County firefighters have knocked down a two-alarm fire after a plume of black smoke was seen coming from a North Bethesda apartment building.
Pete Piringer, spokesman for the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service, said crews were dispatched to The Monterey Apartments at 5901 Montrose Rd. just before 12 p.m. on Tuesday.
About 75 firefighters battled the blaze at the apartment complex, which is located about three-quarters of a mile from the White Flint Metro station.

Fire officials believe the fire came from the HVAC units on the roof, but don't think the blaze tore through the building.
No injuries were reported.
