Heat Advisory: Wednesday Will Feel Like 100 Degrees
An advisory will be in effect from noon to 10 p.m. in Montgomery County.

Update, 12:15 p.m., June 20:
The National Weather Service has extended the heat advisory for Wednesday until 10 p.m. The heat index is expected to reach 100 to 105 degrees on Wednesday and 105 degrees on Thursday. The overnight heat index is expected to hover above 80 degrees in the suburbans and near 90 degrees in urban areas.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Wednesday from noon until 8 p.m. in Montgomery County, as well as the surrounding Washington, DC, and Baltimore metropolitan areas.
Temperatures are expected to rise to the mid-to-high 90s, but high humidity will make it feel like a sweltering 100 degrees.

The Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service's Web site includes tips for beating the heat and reminds residents to check on elderly neighbors who might be especially affected by high temperatures.
Recommended ways to combat extreme heat include drinking lots of fluids, staying in the shade or indoors in air conditioning, and taking frequent breaks from strenuous work.
