Man Dead After Altercation At Montgomery County Restaurant
Montgomery County police are asking anyone who may have witnessed a dispute at the Silver Diner to come forward.

ROCKVILLE, MD — Montgomery County police are asking for the public's help after a man died following an altercation at a Rockville restaurant.
According to authorities, police responded to the Silver Diner in the 12200 block of Rockville Pike shortly after 11:50 p.m. Wednesday after receiving a call about an assault.
When police arrived, they found 49-year-old Fredi Torres of Gaithersburg unresponsive. Police said first responders aided Torres before taking him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Bethesda Today, citing radio transmissions, reported police received a call about a “drunken male” customer who was upset with the diner’s manager. The dispatcher was told the man, later identified as Torres, had punched the manager and the customer was being held on the ground.
At 12:07 a.m., according to radio transmissions, officers said the man was unconscious and not breathing and CPR began.

Torres' body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of death.
