Man, Teen Shot in Aspen Hill Home Invasion

The shooting occurred in a home near Wheaton Woods Elementary School; injuries not considered life-threatening.

A man and teenage girl were shot during an early morning home invasion Thursday in Aspen Hill, several news outlets have reported.

Police said the shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 13000 block of Freeland Road near Wheaton Woods Elementary School.  

A 55-year-old man was shot in the chest, and a 14-year-old girl was shot in the ankle after two men broke into the home and demanded money, Montgomery County Police said.

Officer Rebecca Innocenti, a police spokeswoman, said the injuries weren’t considered life-threatening and that the incident wasn’t random—the men who broke in knew the victims.

Innocenti said the connection was still being investigated.
