Meet The Adorable Animals With Waived Or Discounted Adoption Fees

ROCKVILLE, MD — For those looking to adopt a pet, a great place to look for your new family member is at Montgomery County's adoption center. The facility houses dozens of cats, dogs, and other adorable critters. And all of them need a furever home.

During the month of August, the county-run facility is discounting — or in some cases waiving — its adoption fees. It's all part of the annual Clear The Shelters event. Sponsored by NBC, Clear The Shelters helps adoption centers nationwide find permanent and loving homes for homeless animals.

In Montgomery County, adoption fees will be waived for animals that have been in the shelter for at least six weeks. The first 50 animals adopted this month will also have their fees waived, according to officials.

All other animals adoption fees will be discounted by 50 percent through Aug. 30.

Listed below are some of the adorable animals up for adoption:

BENZ

Benz's adoption fee is waived.

Here's what the shelter has to say:

Benz is a charming 3-year-old with a heart as big as he is! He has stolen the hearts of staff members here at the Adoption Center, and is sure to steal yours too if you give him the chance. Benz doesn't have a mean bone in his body and is just a big ol' lovebug looking for a forever home to call his own. Benz is a smarty pants who knows a few tricks and will happily show them off in exchange for treats. He is an independent boy who loves smelling and exploring all around our yard.

MAZZIE

Mazzie's adoption fee is waived.

Here's what the shelter has to say:

Enthusiasm is Mazzie's middle name! This girl has some serious zest for life! Mazzie (A463487) is a very good girl who just aims to please her humans and wants to make friends of both the two and four-legged variety. She enjoys having the zoomies, playing with toys, and loves to play play play! She always has a smile on her face and a mile-a-minute tail.

Mazzie's perfect human would be somebody in need of a loyal BFF for life! She has a contagious, happy personality and would like to find a human who appreciates her boundless joy. Mazzie would do best in a home that has time to play with and exercise her, as she really enjoys bouncing and running around to burn off her puppy energy. Her future family will wonder how they ever went without her!

Most of all, Mazzie just wants a forever human to love!

PARADISE

Paradise's adoption fee is waived.

Paradise is a very dainty, friendly, sweet girl who would love nothing more than to have her own forever home to lounge around in. She is a gentle girl with a wonderful temperament and is always happy to be on the receiving end of attention and pets!

JESSE

Here's what the shelter has to say:

Jesse is a VERY friendly, chatty girl who lovessss pets and turns into a purr machine when getting attention! She has staff members wrapped around her tiny paw, and she just can't wait to spend time with any human who visits her kennel. Her quiet meows, round little face, and big green eyes will melt your heart as much as her sweet personality does.

Jesse's perfect human is just about anybody who is willing to give her attention and lots of scratches! She is an easy-going, laid back cat who just wants a warm lap to spend all her days snuggling up in.

PETUNIA & BREWSTER

Petunia and Brewster's adoption fees are waived.

Here's what the shelter has to say:

Petunia and Brewster are 11-year-old bundles of love! They have been living together in a foster home for a few months and have their foster mom wrapped around their paws! They're quite the couch potatoes and love to spend their days quietly napping together. Not a huge fan of long walks in the summer heat or winter snow? Not a problem -- Petunia and Brewster aren't either! They'd be just as happy snuggling up and relaxing.

Petunia and Brewster have been together for many years and would prefer finding a forever home together.
